Buzzing sex toy delays AirAsia flight departure

KUALA LUMPUR: An AirAsia flight was temporarily delayed after a buzzing sex toy in a passenger’s rucksack sent alarm bells ringing among airport security.

A Daily Mail Online report said the incident involved AirAsia flight FD3438, which was scheduled to depart Chiang Mai International Airport for Bangkok on Wednesday at 8.25am.

According to the report, an airport staff heard a loud humming and felt the rucksack shaking as it was being brought onto the aircraft.

The baggage handlers, fearing that it was an explosive, alerted security personnel.

A bomb disposal squad was summoned to the scene.

However, the initial anxiety soon turned to relief when upon opening the luggage, they found a sex toy with its speed dial accidentally turned on.

According to the report, the baggage handler, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “We noticed the bag was shaking and there was a buzzing noise coming from inside.

“Obviously we were pretty scared because this could have been a bomb or some other explosive device. But when the experts arrived they opened up the package and it was just a sex toy.

“We checked it and found it was safe to take on the plane so we put back in the bag. The airline staff did not tell the passenger they had inadvertently caused the security scare.”

“I think they would be deeply embarrassed if they found out.”

Daily Mail Online also quoted an AirAsia spokesman as saying that the flight was delayed by only five minutes. The flight took off at 8.30am.
