SEPANG: Lewis Hamilton took pole position at the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix with a commanding performance in qualifying at the Sepang circuit today.
The Mercedes AMG Petronas driver notched a best lap of one minute and 32.850 seconds as teammate Nico Rosberg, who leads the drivers’ championship, took second on 1:33.264 seconds after making a slight mistake at the final turn.
Red Bull Racing duo Max Verstappen, who celebrated his 19th birthday yesterday, and Daniel Ricciardo notched third and fourth after clocking 1:33.420 seconds and 1:33.467 seconds respectively.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who won here last year, rounded out the top five with a 1:33.584 seconds effort.
The race will start at 3pm tomorrow.
