Man, 58, found dead under pile of clothes; daughter arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: A 58-year-old man was found dead under a mattress and a pile of clothes in his flat in Danau Kota, Setapak this afternoon.

The authorities believe that he was murdered.

Police have so far remained tight-lipped on the case. City Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said they received a report on the discovery of the body at 12.40pm.

He confirmed the murder probe, but declined to elaborate.

Meanwhile, a neighbor, who only wished to be known as Liew, said that sounds of a commotion could usually be heard coming from the victim's home.

Liew said the man was living with his daughter, who is in her 30s; as well as a one-year-old girl.

The neighbour claimed that there had been several cases where a man, believed to be a foreigner, had shown up at the victim's home, which usually triggered an argument.

"There was one time when the victim yelled at the man and chased him away," he claimed.

It is leant that police have taken the victim's daughter into custody today.

Wangsa Maju police are expected to hold a press conference on the case tomorrow.
