KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale occurred in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, at 7.29 am today.
The Meteorology Department, in a statement, said the epicentre of the quake was 345km southeast of Sorong, in the Philippines, and about 1,870km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
However, the earthquake did not pose any tsunami threat, it said.– BERNAMA
