dUCk scarves take Malaysia by storm

That this local brand has a strong cult following already speaks of the success of dUCk, a premium label whose scarves sell like hot cakes every time they are launched.

From the caricature Mother’s Day scarf to the floral Blooming dUCk to the Le Meurice- inspired dUCk X Bowerhaus (a collaboration with the accessories brand), it seems there is nothing that this brand touches that doesn’t turn to gold.

Last weekend, it took over the concourse of Bangsar Shopping Centre (not many local brands have that big a following to warrant such space) for customers to pre-order its latest line, the Alphabet dUCk.

My wild guess is that it’s inspired by Mary Katrantzou’s Alphabet Tote. It is said that only a few bags are produced for each letter and dUCk founder Vivy Yusof has one in V. Otherwise, it could also originate from Vivy’s children’s alphabet cards. And that’s an adorable reason for a collection too.

Either way, the Alphabet dUCk is the brand’s take on personalisation and the team’s clever combination of typeface and colours will give customers a field day or a hard time, depending on budget constraint, choosing which alphabet to buy.

You’d want the letter your name starts with, but you’d also love a combination of colours that’s most suited to your wardrobe.

The Collection, the brand’s biggest to date — with 26 scarves, matching twillies, notebooks and tote bags — took more than a year to conceptualise and design but the result is as breathtaking as they are beautiful.

The scarves (RM300 each) are square, in satin silk with the iconic charm. The matching twillies are RM120 each and they go well with your carriers or as cute headbands.

“The reason behind the very long development stage is the personalised touch we’ve given to every design — each featuring a single letter of the alphabet. No two design of scarf, bag, notebook or twilly is the same,” says brand general manager Kho Min-Jee.

“Each alphabet was individually designed and has its unique elements that makes it special.”

Pre-order is available until Friday on Fashion Valet online store, its physical store in Bangsar Village 2 and also the dUCk store in Pavilion.
