Utility company workers assaulted for cutting off water supply over unpaid bills

KULAI: Two water utility company workers were assaulted after cutting off water supply to a house here, whose owner had failed to pay his bills over several months.

The victims, both workers of a contractor appointed by water utlity company SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd, were allegedly assaulted by two men, believed to be sons of the houseowner.

Kulai district police chief Superintendent Razak Md Said said the incident occurred at 11.45am in front of the house in Kampung Melayu, near here.

Razak said the suspects allegedly assaulted their victims using their hands and helmets.

"One of the suspects also threatened the victims that he would hit him with a hoe," Razak said.

"The victims suffered injuries on the face and hand, and were given outpatient treatment at the Kulai Hospital for soft tissue injury," he said.

Police are looking for the two suspects, who fled after the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 of the same code for criminal intimidation.
