KUALA LUMPUR: THE unchanged rate in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is proof of the country’s steady economy, said Umno Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
“To date the GST has contributed RM30 billion to the country’s revenue, shielding it from the impact of the 50 per cent dip in oil prices.
“It proves that the government’s effort to broaden it as a source of revenue was the right strategy and economic growth can be expected from various measures taken by the government”.
Annuar said the Opposition had been frustrated as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak stood by his principle of putting the rakyat first.
“There was no increase in GST rates and in addition to that extra incentives were given to the rakyat … the Opposition is frustrated as they were proven wrong.
“It is clear now that they have no respect for the House,” he said.
