2017 Budget highlights government's aim of boosting eco-tourism, says Tourism Malaysia chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Siew Ka Wei says the 2017 Budget is reflective of the government’s aim to boost eco-tourism.

Commenting on the RM400 million allocation for clean air and eco-tourism initiatives., Siew said such a move would spur more tourist arrivals.

"It is the way to go. Based on the allocation, I can see that the government is looking to the future, where Malaysia will be promoting some green tourism which will definitely draw more tourists,” he said.

He said the extension of the eVisa to South Asia region and Balkans countries will also be a plus.

"We want tourists to have an enjoyable experience, not just during their stay but also the process of coming here.”
