PAS: We will contest wherever DAP is contesting

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition pact Pakatan Harapan’s efforts to include PAS in a proposed greater coalition has hit a stumbling block when the Islamist party’s foremost figure head closed all doors for reconciliation.

Its spiritual leader Hashim Jasin in a recent interview with the party’s organ Harakahdaily, expressed his abhorrence towards DAP following a bitter fallout last year after a series verbal fracas over hudud issue.

“It was DAP which severed ties with us, because they did not want to work with (PAS president) Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. PAS will not be able to function if they want to take the president out of the cooperation. Hence, we will not cooperate with DAP,” said Hashim.

He also said the party would have no qualms to face DAP in a three-cornered fight in the next general election.

“If we are to be involved in three-cornered fights, so be it. We will contest wherever DAP is contesting. Even if we lose, that is nothing out of the ordinary for us.

“Back then (when PAS and DAP were cooperating), DAP thought they are the one who helped us to win. But they need to realise too that PAS did pull efforts to ensure victories for DAP.”
