SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has advised Kumpulan Air Selangor not to blame others for the closure of the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant today.
He said the company should wait until the technical investigations positively determine the source of the pollution before pointing fingers and dragging others into the dilemma.
"My advice is: don't be too quick to blame others. Just wait for the technical report and from there, we will take appropriate action," he told the New Straits Times.
Mohamad was commenting on a statement by Kumpulan Air Selangor corporate communications head Amin Lin Abdullah, who said the Semenyih water plant was shut down at 7.30am today due to odour pollution suspected to have originated from the Nilai industrial area in Negri Sembilan.
Areas affected by the shutdown and subsequent water disruption are as follows: in the Hulu Langat district – Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Kajang, Semenyih and Rinching; Kuala Langat district – Morib, Banting, Bandar Saujana Putra, Bandar Rimbayu and Telok Panglima Garang.
In the Petaling district – USJ 1 and 27, Puchong, Seri Kembangan and Serdang; Sepang district – Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Bandar Nusa Putra, Putra Heights, Pulau Meranti, Kota Warisan, Bandar Bukit Puchong and Sungai Merab.
