Johor hospital fire: Polyclinic now serving as temporary emergency holding centre

JOHOR BARU: A fleet of ambulances have made their way to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) polyclinic, with the building now serving as a temporary emergency holding centre for emergency cases following a fire at the ICU of the HSA main building.

The authorities said six people have been confirmed dead so far.

An attending nurse, when approached, said all the patients from the affected main building were transferred to nearby hospital buildings.

“There are several holding centres where patients from the affected building are being temporarily housed,” she said, adding that they are also assisting family members of the patients who are looking for their loved ones.

Several patients who need special care are also being transferred to nearby hospitals such as the Kulai Hospital and Sultan Ismail Hospital.

The situation at the polyclinic area appears to be control, with auxiliary policemen and hospital attendants helping patients.

Most of the services at the polyclinic, located about 50m from the main building, is still running.
