KUALA LUMPUR: Despite rumours saying she is a shoo-in winner at the inaugural Anugerah Melodi awards event, petite singer-actress Ayda Jebat doesn’t see it as a done deal.
“Of course for every awards event, I'm hopeful, but at the same time, it's okay if I don't win in the end,” she told a press conference for the launch of the event at Balai Berita, Bangsar.
Inspired by TV3's top entertainment programme Melodi, the awards show is set to happen on December 10 at the Putra World Trade Centre in KL.
“If I do win, I will be honoured and very thankful to all of my fans. Nevertheless, I don't feel any pressure to win.
“Besides, this is the first time Anugerah Melodi is being held, so I'm just going to have fun,” she said of the upcoming fans' choice award, which honours icons in the local entertainment scene.
Among its 10 categories, Ayda is nominated for three: Music Personality, Social Media Personality and the top award, Sensational Personality.
She said she will encourage her social media followers to vote for their favourite artistes to add more hype to the event.
“Melodi has helped a lot with my career so I want to show my support in return,” she said.
Actor-comedian-host Zizan Razak also has three nominations, while actresses Mira Filzah and Janna Nick bagged two nominations each.
Other categories are Film Personality, Drama Personality, Hosting Personality, Comedy Personality, Sensational Couple Personality, Fashion Personality, and Sports Personality.
The nominees also include Amyra Rosli, Fattah Amin, Shaheizy Sam, Saharul Ridzwan, Neelofa, Yuna, Faizal Tahir and Rozita Che Wan.
The voting process runs from Oct 31 to Nov 30. Fans can cast their votes at www.anugerahmelodi.com.my.
