Sarawak rolls out the red carpet for local, international investors

KUCHING: Sarawak welcomes investment from local and foreign investors, especially companies with high-technology expertise which could help the state move up the value chain in the global economy.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas said the state has created a conducive environment for the business community to grow and prosper.

"We have a sound and stable state government, which is business friendly and protects the interests of our investors," he said.

Douglas said Sarawak continues to welcome energy-intensive industries, halal-related sectors, high-technology manufacturers of electrical and electronic goods, downstream timber processing and production companies, oil and gas corporations, and agriculture businesses to invest in Sarawak.

He added that the state is strategically-located amidst booming Asian markets, and is free from natural calamities such as tsunamis and typhoons.

"Our state is an ideal destination for investments as well as other social and leisure activities," Douglas said.

He was speaking at the Declaration of Friendship Agreement Signing Ceremony between the Sarawak government and the Fujian Provincial Government of The People's Republic of China held here today.
