KUALA LUMPUR: A woman from Poland died after she was run over by a bus while crossing a busy intersection in KL this afternoon.
The woman, identified as Daiana Helena, 23, was crossing the intersection of Jalan Tan Cheng Lock and Wisma Megah when the accident occurred around 1pm.
The bus, coming from Jalan Tun HS Lee was switching lanes from left to the right lane, headed towards Jalan Tan Cheng Lock, when the woman crossed the three-lane road.
She was hit while on the left lane.
City police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) officer Deputy Superintendent Shafie Daud said doctors pronounced the victim dead at the Kuala Lumpur hospital at 1.40pm.
She died due to severe head injuries. The Polish embassy has been notified of the incident.
"The bus driver lodged a police report on the incident. The bus was sent to Puspakom for inspection," Shafie said, adding that the police are investigating the case.
