Aussie tourist missing for a week following Mulu, Sarawak expedition

MIRI: An Australian tourist has gone missing for seven days following an expedition to the Mulu National Park near here last week.

Andrew Gaskell from Queensland, who has been in Sarawak since early August, entered the national park on Oct 20.

It is learnt that Gaskell had told his friend, a local, that he would return from the national park the following day.

However, despite repeated attempts, Gaskell has been uncontactable ever since.

Fearing for the Australian’s safety, his friend lodged a police report yesterday.

The Marudi Fire and Rescue Department has launched a search and rescue mission for the man.

There has been no positive developments at press time.
