Maxis shares rise after announcing spectrum funding plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd’s shares on Bursa Malaysia rose in the early session after the company announced it would fund its 2x10MHz of 900MHz and 2x20MHz of 1800MHz spectrum fee through external borrowings.

As at 9.34 am, the counter advanced three sen to RM5.99 with 100 shares changing hands.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, Maxis said the spectrum was offered by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for a lump sump full settlement fee of RM816.75 million.

The decision to fund the fee through external borrowings was made after a thorough consideration of all factors including future cash flow projections and reinvestment opportunities, it said.--BERNAMA
