KAJANG: Police confirmed that they received a report yesterday on two university students being molested at Bandar Sg Long following a video that went viral on social media.
Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said, according to one of the victims, they were molested by an unknown man while they were walking back to their condominium unit here yesterday.
“According to the complainant, her friend and she noticed suspect following them from behind and all of a sudden the suspect approached them and grabbed her buttocks.
Othman said the suspect then fondled the other victim’s breast and she screamed, thus scaring the suspect who turned and ran away.
The gutsy victims gave a chase, running after the suspect, until he fled the condominium compound.
Othman said police are currently investigating the case and operation to track and arrest the suspect is underway.
“Police urge the public not to speculate on this case and those who have information about the suspect to come forward immediately to assist the police with the investigation.”
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman, which comes with a maximum jail sentence of 10 years or a fine or caning.
