Penang state gov't 'happy', welcomes federal gov't allocation for flood mitigation project

GEORGE TOWN: The state government today welcomed the federal government’s announcement to provide a RM150 million allocation to kick-start the third and final phase of the Sungai Pinang flood mitigation project.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said his administration is happy and welcomes the allocation which will finally put an end to flooding problems plaguing various parts of the island.

"We will give our full cooperation to the federal government in regards to the project," he told a press conference here today.

This morning, Federal Action Council chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman announced that RM150 million, which is required to tackle flooding problems linked to Sungai Pinang, will be allocated.
