Zahid tells Bersih, Red Shirts to 'expect more arrests'

BAGAN DATOH: More protesters from both the Bersih 5.0 and Red Shirts camps will be arrested and brought to court soon, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He however declined to reveal the list of those involved.

“We will leave it to Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (on the arrest of the participants).

“Both groups will be brought to book,” said Zahid, who is also Home Minister, after visiting flood-hit houses in Kampung Simpang Tiga, here today.

Yesterday, police had gone on the offensive and rounded up 14 leaders from both factions. Those detained included Bersih chairman Maria Chin Abdullah, and Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.
