Man goes missing while prawn fishing, feared drowned

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 34-year-old man is feared drowned after failing to return home from prawn fishing at the Kuala Terengganu river in Kampung Losong, here on Saturday.

Muhammad Anuar Elias, from Kampung Losong Feri here, failed to return home the following morning, leading his mother to lodge a missing persons report.

It is learnt that he was last seen at his fishing spot at around 3am.

State Fire and Rescue Department operation officer Muhammad Azrul Izham Zulkifli said the head office received a call from the Kuala Terengganu police station’s operation room at 7.30am this morning.

He said a team of officers was immediately deployed to the scene.

"The team, comprising eight personnel, carried out the search and rescue operation.

"But as of 10.30am today, the victim is still missing,” added Azrul.
