Boy, 10, drowns after falling into Hulu Langat river

KUALA LUMPUR: A 10-year-old boy, believed to have slipped and fell into Hulu Langat river near Kampung Batu 9, Cheras here, yesterday, was found drowned.

Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said Aiman Safuan Mohd’s body was located today at 11.05am, about one kilometre from where he was reported to have fallen.

He said the victim had been playing near the riverbank with three friends prior to the incident around 6.40pm.

“He was believed to have attempted to retrieve his friend’s slipper which had fallen into the water but fell and was swept away by the current,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Othman said the search and rescue operation which was jointly conducted by Police, Kajang Fire and Rescue department, Civil Defence Force and villagers, was suspended at 7pm yesterday and resumed at 8am today.

He said the body was sent to the Serdang Hospital for post-mortem.--BERNAMA
