Political leaders to be briefed on political donations and expenditure act

KUALA LUMPUR: Leaders of political parties will be briefed on the proposed political donations and expenditure act (PDEA) soon before it is brought to Parliament.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Senator Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan said he would meet Barisan Nasional leaders first, and other political party leaders later, and the exercise was expected to be completed by year-end.

He told reporters this after attending a forum, ‘Market Place Series: Entrepreneurship and Partnership in Nation Building’ here today.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was reported as saying that the proposed law should be debated and passed during next March session of the Dewan Rakyat.

On another matter, Low said the construction and development of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project would be opened to international tenders, despites some reports stating that China would have the upper hand in the project.

The 350km rail project targeted for operations in 2026 will have eight stations, namely Bandar Malaysia, Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat, Iskandar Puteri and Singapore.

Meanwhile, more than 100 business communities participated in the one-day forum organised by Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship Malaysia and Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute.--BERNAMA
