Maria Chin says she received death threat, bullet in the mail

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah today claimed that she had received a death threat after discovering an envelope containing a .45 live bullet at her home.

She said the letter and the bullet came inside an envelope which read "LAST WARNING IF NOT R.I.P Marina (sic) and family".

She said she only made the discovery this morning.

Maria was speaking to reporters outside the High Court here while holding the bullet in her hand.

She said she had received similar threats prior to the Bersih rally.

“I hope police will take action and arrest the person who sent this threat," she said.

Maria said she had received two death threats previously. She said that up until now, there has been no response or updates from police on whether they have found the person responsible for the threats.

“This is the third time,” Maria said.

She said she has yet to lodge a police report as she only discovered the threat this morning and had to rush to the court for her case.
