Sultan Ibrahim visits Tunku Abdul Jalil's grave

JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today visited the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Mahmoodiah near here.

The sultan arrived at the royal mausoleum about 8.10am, to visit the grave of his son, Tunku Laksamana of Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil who died on Dec 5, last year from liver cancer at age 25.

He was received by the imam of the royal mausoleum, Masri Sapiran @ Sapuan and his assistant, Azhari Tarpani.

The ceremony began with the Yasin recital, followed by the recital of surah Al-Ikhlas three times, surah Al-falaq as well as An-nas once, and ended with the Al-Fatihah and a prayer recital.

Sultan Ibrahim was seen wiping away tears when he poured scented water filled with rose petals on the grave.

According to Masri, visiting the royal mausoleum is one of Sultan Ibrahim’s daily routine whereby, he spends almost half an hour visiting the grave of the late Tunku Abdul Jalil. --Bernama
