Group demands Penang CM's resignation at High Court protest

GEORGE TOWN: A group claiming to be Chief Minister-designate Chow Kon Yeow supporters staged a protest outside the High Court complex here this morning, urging him to 'save' Penang from a slew of issues.

Led by Mamu Parpu Supporters Club chairman Muhsin Latheef, the group urged Chow to take over from Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, if the latter does not resolve pressing issues facing the state.

Among their grievances are the state’s perennial flooding problems and lack of low-cost housing.

They also chanted 'Undur Guan Eng' (Step down Guan Eng), 'Guan Eng dari Melaka' (Guan Eng from Malacca) and 'Hidup YB Chow' (Long live YB Chow).

They also held banners displaying messages of dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister.

Lim is currently facing two corruption charges and awaiting trial.

"If Lim cannot help solve the people's problems, then he should relinquish his post.

"We want Chow to take over and save Penang," said Muhsin.
