TELLY TALK: Control over Lady Luck

SYFY viewers are in for a treat this month with the premiering of Stan Lee’s Lucky Man today at 10pm. It has been dubbed “the most successful original drama series” for Sky 1 in the United Kingdom.

Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning producers Carnival Films have joined forces with legendary comic book writer Stan Lee to produce this show, his first-ever TV drama.

Based on an original idea by Lee, the crime drama’s 10-episode first season was the “highest-rated original drama series ever” for Sky 1 in the UK. The series earned rave reviews from critics, who described it as “a thrill a minute drama” (The Observer) and “thoroughly entertaining fun” (Daily Mail).

James Nesbitt (The Missing, Babylon), heads the cast that includes Eve Best (Nurse Jackie), Sienna Guillory (Luther), Amara Karan (Doctor Who), Steven Mackintosh (Luther), Darren Boyd (Fortitude), Omid Djalili (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes).

The story follows Detective Inspector Harry Clayton (Nesbitt), an officer from Central London’s Murder Squad, who is given an ancient artefact that seems to confer upon the wearer the ability to control luck.

Harry is down on his luck; his wife and daughter, Daisy, have left him due to his gambling habit and his boss thinks he takes too many risks and he has a huge debt to an underworld crime boss who is threatening his life.

A chance meeting with a woman who gives him an ancient bracelet changes everything. It appears to give Harry control over luck itself, but at a cost. Find out if one man’s luck is another’s misfortune.

Stan Lee’s Lucky Man premieres today and airs Wednesdays at 10pm only on Syfy (HyppTV channel 611).
