Dr M willing to sacrifice principles for political gain, says Perlis MB

KANGAR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a man willing to sacrifice his principles for the sake of political expediency.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said this today, commenting on the recent close ties between Dr Mahathir and his former nemesis, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.

He said it was misleading that the two leaders could now sit on the same table and attend the same event when years ago, both men were rebuking each other over various issues.

“The fact that he (Dr M) is willing to work hand in hand with DAP which used to be his long-time enemy in the past clearly shows political expediency, with the purpose of achieving certain ambition or agenda.

“All of us are aware that this (relationship) is solely meant to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, as well as the ruling coalition Barisan Nasional,” he said after the appointment of Kangar Municipal Council exco members at his office here today.

On Dec 4, Dr Mahathir made a surprise appearance at the DAP National Conference at Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.

The former prime minister, who is now Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, was seen sitting on the stage with DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng, Kit Siang, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu.
