Addressing Volkswagen customer concerns

EVER wonder what happens after your five-year car warranty expires? Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has an answer.

The company recently announced an additional two-year “VPCM Customer Care Goodwill” warranty on the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) for cars produced till December 2013, with mileage of up to 200,000km.

The goodwill offer takes place after the expiration of the five-year warranty period on these vehicles, the company said in a statement early this week.

Additionally, “VPCM Customer Care Goodwill” is also offered on other selected components for Volkswagen cars that have passed its five-year warranty period expiration date.

Goodwill on DSG

The two-year goodwill on DSG offers an extended two-year parts warranty on the repair, from the time of parts replacement, with the application of minimal labour charges. This additional warranty covers 100 per cent parts and labour.

Goodwill on other components

VPCM also offers “VPCM Customer Care Goodwill” beyond the standard warranty period on other selected parts on a case-by-case basis. This will be clarified at the respective authorised Volkswagen Service Centre using the car’s VIN number on the VPCM’s online system.

As per Volkswagen standard parts warranty, parts that are replaced and paid for at an authorised Volkswagen service centre receive a two-year warranty. This excludes wear and tear.

To qualify for the “VPCM Customer Care Goodwill” on DSG and other components, customers must have a full service history at any authorised Volkswagen service centre.

“At VPCM, our customers are our top priority and we have taken into account feedback we’ve received from our VW owners,” VPCM managing director Florian Steiner said.

He pointed out that on Sept 1, VPCM announced the five-year manufacturer warranty for its cars.

“And now, with the introduction of the ‘VPCM Customer Care Goodwill’, we hope to further enhance the overall ownership experience and give existing customers better protection and peace of mind. The goal is to build trust and confidence with our customers as we continue to strengthen our brand presence and share in the Malaysian market,” Steiner added.

To continue providing Volkswagen owners with affordable ownership, a parts exchange programme on selected items is also available for customers.

Economy packages on specific models older than five years are being implemented at Volkswagen authorised dealer partners.
