State gov't to map route for Johoreans to benefit from HSR project, says Johor MB

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government is taking specific steps to ensure that Johoreans will benefit from the High Speed Rail (HSR) project.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the inking of the agreement between Malaysia and Singapore on Tuesday was welcomed by the state government as it only promises many economic benefits, especially in the districts where there will be transit stops.

He said the state government is also confident that during the construction of the project will also augur well for economic growth in the state.

“The state government will take specific steps to focus on and to have suitable developments that will contribute towards this (HSR) development,” said Khaled after conducting a site visit to the Paragon Private and International School in Plentong Industrial Area here today.

On Tuesday, Malaysia and Singapore inked the long-awaited agreement on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR project with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong witnessing the signing at the 7th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders Retreat in Putrajaya.
