(Football) Kelantan withdraw from next season's Super League over financial constraints

KUALA LUMPUR: The executive committee of the Kelantan FA (Kafa) have decided to withdraw their team from the Super League next season due to financial constraints.

However, the final decision will only be made at Kafa’s extraordinary congress on Dec 29 in Kota Baru.

Kafa acting president Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah said his state’s FA have so far raised only RM800,000 in sponsorships for the new season.

“We will look at all aspects before deciding on the next move. We may opt to field our President’s Cup team to save costs.

“But we will decide on this at our extraordinary congress,” said Afandi at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday.

Kafa secretary Datuk Ismail Md Noor said at least RM15 million will be needed to prepare a solid team for the Super League.
