Malaysian charged with cleaner's murder, crime committed in Singapore

JOHOR BARU: A 23-year-old Malaysian was charged in a Singapore court with the murder of a cleaner at the republic’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal last month.

Ahmad Muin Yaacob was charged for the murder of Maimunah Awang, 54, at the ferry terminal between noon and 1pm on Nov 24, said a report on Singapore’s Today Online.

The report said Maimunah’s body was found in a drain, with neck injuries and bruises on her stomach. Her gold jewellery was also reportedly missing.

Ahmad Muin will be remanded for a week for further investigations and will return to court again for the case mention on Dec 28.

The suspect was arrested in Malaysia last Sunday after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the State Courts of Singapore.

He was handed over to the Singapore police on Monday evening with the help of Malaysian police.
