Johor bus wreckage being removed, damage to vehicle severe, extensive

MUAR: Work on removing the wreckage of the Alisan Golden Coach Express, which crashed near here this morning killing 14 people, is being carried out with the help of a crane.

Work began about 11.35am.

Damage to the bus’ interior and exterior is severe, and shattered glass, luggage and metal parts could be seen strewn all over the crash site.

Bus seats were ripped off their mountings.

Most front row passenger seats were torn off, and the driver's dashboard was completely crushed after it slammed into the concrete wall of the Kampung Jayo underpass.

It is learnt that all of those killed were seated at the front of the bus.

The location of the accident is on the shoulder of Km137.3 (northbound) of the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Kampung Jayo, Jalan Kangkar Senangah Pagoh, near here.

Traffic near the crash site is moving at a crawl, as curious motorists slow down to “rubberneck.”

There are about 20 personnel from the Malaysian Highway Authority, police and Land and Public Transport Commission, currently overseeing the crash site.
