New Year cheer: Felda settlers set to receive bonus totalling RM66.7 million

BANDAR SERI JEMPOL: A total of 95,683 Felda settlers all over the country will receive a Settlers Productivity Incentive Bonus totalling RM66.7 million early next month.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said, depending on each settler's productivity, they will receive a bonus of between RM300 and RM800 by the second week of Jan.

"There are 112,635 Felda settlers nationwide, but not all sell their fresh fruit bunches to oil palm mills operated by Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV). Thus, those who do not send their produce to FGV are not eligible for the bonuses," he told newsmen after a meeting session with settlers at Felda Jaya Selatan today.

"Although the economy is uncertain, Felda is still able to pay the bonuses, albeit a little late," said Isa, who is also Jempol member of Parliament.

"I hope that the bonus will alleviate some of the smallholders’ cost of living, especially those who have school-going children," he added.

Meanwhile, Isa said Felda will hold a roadshow at all of its land schemes on its RM2.6 billion purchase of a 37 per cent stake in Indonesia's PT Eagle High Plantations Tbk.

He said the roadshow will begin here and travel to all Felda land schemes so that settlers will better understand the business deal and be well-informed on its long-term benefits.

"A lot of parties have created stories about the deal which are not true, and I hope that the settlers do not easily fall for the stories," added Isa.
