KL, Selangor firemen help remove metal ring from man's genitals

KUALA LUMPUR: The City Fire and Rescue Department yesterday received a rare distress call to remove a metal ring from a man’s private part.

Its chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said this was the first of such case received by the department this year.

“A team with 12 firefighters from Hang Tuah station was dispatched to University Malaya Medical Centre after receiving a distress call at 9pm from the hospital.

“When the team arrived, the man, in his 30s, was already in pain. At first, the team was faced with a problem trying to remove the ring as it was too thick to cut through.

“The blade used was also too dull,” he said.

Samsol said another team, from Sungai Buloh station, was called in for assistance.

“We manage to remove the ring about 2am today.

“However, the victim did not disclose why the ring was stuck around his private part.” he said.
