School leavers urged to be cautious with offers from uncertified colleges

BESUT: School leavers, especially those who have passed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), are reminded to exercise caution to avoid from falling prey to offers from colleges not registered with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

MQA chief executive officer, Datuk Professor Dr Rujhan Mustafa said the agency had detected a number of such cases and the colleges have also asked for a certain sum of money.

“Should they get such offer letters, the students can make references by visiting MQA website, www.mqa.gov.my to ensure the course offered has been registered with MQA.

“MQA has certified a total of 11,000 courses offered by higher education institutions registered nationwide to help the applicants to make references,” he told e was speaking to reporters at the handing over of ‘Rumah Komuniti’ by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh in Kampung Lak Lok, here today.

Rujhan said there was also an offer letter issued by colleges using false certification from MQA to mislead the students. --Bernama
