N. Sembilan man hunting wild boar accidentally shoots friend

KUALA KLAWANG: A man accidentally shot his friend while out hunting for wild boar at a rubber plantation in Peradong, Jelebu, here today.

In the 9.30am incident, the 51-year-old man had opened fire at a wild boar, but missed his target and hit his friend, Sum Mun Kiong, 50.

Jelebu District Chief Deputy Superintendent Othman Basri said the man quickly realised his mistake and rushed to check on Sum.

“The victim’s stomach was wounded and he was immediately rushed to the Jelebu Hospital, before being transferred to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for further treatment. The man then lodged a police report on the incident,” Othman said.

“Early investigations show that the two men often hunt together and have no personal problems (with each other).

“(They both) also possess legal permits to carry shotguns. The case is being investigated under Section 37 of Firearm Act 1960,” he added.
