PENAMPANG: Police have ruled out foul play in the death of a man who was found hanged from a tree at Kampung Baru here.
The man has been identified as Rusli Settang, 37, from Indonesia.
Villagers made the shocking discovery at about 2pm, yesterday.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Rosley Hodden said he believes the victim had taken his own life.
“For now, we have classified the case as sudden dead, as there was no criminal element found at the scene.
“However, a thorough probe will be carried out to determine the actual cause of death,” he said.
Rosley urged the public not to make any speculation pending police investigation.
Following the grisly discovery, fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to help retrieve the body.
