Abang Johari sworn in as Sarawak Chief Minister

PETRA JAYA: Datuk Abang Johari Openg was officially sworn in as the new Sarawak Chief Minister today.

Abang Johari, 66, took his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud at the Astana Negeri here.

The Satok assemblyman, clad in a black Baju Melayu, is Sarawak's sixth chief minister.

The chief minister's post became vacant following the sudden demise of Tan Sri Adenan Satem on Wednesday. He was 72.
