Shahrir: New Felda Investment Corp board of directors to be announced February

JERANTUT: The new Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC)'s board of directors lineup will be unveiled in February, said Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad.

He said Felda's management and minister in charge of Felda affairs will be engaged in discussions before the new board of directors is announced.

"They (the current board of directors) were ordered to resign to make it easier to implement reforms and reorganise the company. Once all the directors have resigned, then it will be easier for me to restructure FIC," he told reporters after handing out offer letters for the Felda New Generation Housing Project (PGBF) to 26 recipients at Felda Padang Piol, here today.

On Tuesday, Shahrir had instructed all FIC board members to resign to facilitate the reorganisation of the company.

FIC, a subsidiary of Felda, engaged in non-plantation activities, was incorporated on July 2, 2013, and is principally engaged in property development, hospitality and other strategic investments.

Meanwhile, Shahrir said, in a move to build more housing units for Felda's second generation, he will from next month visit states which have Felda settlements and engage with their respective assemblymen.

"The meetings with assemblymen whose constituencies have Felda settlements are to discuss plans to build PGBF projects and the suitable prices for the units. Our aim is to ensure that the new generation of Felda settlers can afford to buy their own units and live in a conducive environment," he said.
