SIMPANG AMPAT: Continuous heavy rain caused Sungai Kedah to overflow and partially inundate a village here, forcing the evacuation of eight families.
The flash flooding occurred at Kampung Sethu at 11.30pm following a heavy downpour since 3pm.
The water level rose to three feet, forcing residents to flee and find temporary accommodation with their relatives.
A state Malaysian Maritime Enforcement department spokesman said the water level was static at about 1.30am today.
He said five firemen in one vehicle were deployed to the scene to assist victims.
