Najib listens to Sarawak people's aspirations, says Abdul Rahman Zohari

PETRA JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak is a prime minister who is willing to listen to the aspirations of the Sarawak people, said Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Abang Openg.

He said Najib has also been responsive and generous to the state in its pursuit for greater autonomy in the on-going talks on devolution of powers with the Federal government.

“He has made many contributions to the state. And I can tell you that he is a prime minister who listens,” he told reporters after chairing his first Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council meeting here today.

He was asked to comment on his short meeting with Najib at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya on Friday.

“I told him that I will continue the good work left behind by the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem. I also told him that we will support his leadership."

“We will continue to pursue and restore the rights of the state under the negotiations for devolution of powers.

“I have a common stand with the prime minister since the signatory of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 were his father (the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein) and my father (the late Tun Abang Openg Abang Sapiee).

“The prime minister understands and acknowledges all which has been stipulated under the agreement.” he said.
