PM looks back on M'sia's 60 years of peace, contemplates next 30 years

SEREMBAN: Malaysia has come a long way in 60 years, thanks to the peace and stability in the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.

He said the survival of a country could not be maintained if its people could not put their differences aside.

"Our country is complex due to our diversity and differences in race, religion and belief. But we are here today, because we have managed to set the differences aside.

"We tolerate, accept and celebrate our differences. (In this way), I believe Malaysia will be able to step forward and become among the top 20 countries in the world, in 30 years’ time," he said at the launch of the Ceylonese Wisma building here, today.

Also present was Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Health minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramanian, state MIC chairman Datuk Manickam Letchuman, president of the Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry Tan Sri Datuk Dr K Kenneth Eswaran and Negri Sembilan Ceylonese Association chairman Datuk Kumarasamy Sittamplam.

The PM expressed his confidence that Malaysia will be able to advance if national interest is put above the interests of small groups.
