New name for Haval's mini SUV

Go Automobile Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (Go Auto), the licenced manufacturer of China’s Haval vehicles in Malaysia, has rebranded its M4 to Haval H1.

Besides the name change, other changes to the H1 include a sporty chrome front grille and Haval emblems on the steering wheel, car boot and seats of the mini SUV (a sport utility vehicle or suburban utility vehicle).

The exterior and interior, as well as its price, remains the same.

Prices for the Haval H1 range from RM52,008 to RM72,659.

The front-wheel-drive H1 is powered by a 1.5 litre four-cylinder variable valve timing multi point injectors (VVT MPI) engine, mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automated manual transmission.

The engine produces 105hp at 6,000rpm and 138Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm.

The H1 is 3,961mm long and 1,728mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2,383mm. It comes with 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels.

The equipment list includes halogen projector headlights with light-emitting diode (LED) positioning lamps and LED day running lights near the fog lamps. It weighs 1,106kg and has a 330 litre trunk.

On the inside, the Haval H1 comes with a video recorder located near the rear view mirror, a rear-view camera with integrated SmartTAG reader, leather seats, cruise control, a touchscreen navigation system with a DVD player and Bluetooth connectivity, an around-view monitor, steering wheel with multi controls, and a centre arm rest.

Safety features include anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and brake assist, dual airbags, electronic stability programme, traction control and hill start assist.

Haval claims that the M4 Elite has a top speed of 172kph and takes 12.8seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h.

It also states that it consumes an average of 6 litres of petrol per 100km.

The Haval H1 comes in six colours and all variants come with a seven-year unlimited mileage warranty.
