Brother chains up sister to stop her from leaving home and getting drunk

KUALA LUMPUR: The Serdang Fire and Rescue Department today freed a woman who was found bound with chains around her neck and body this morning at Serdang Raya, Seri Kembangan.

According to a spokesman from the department, the 29-year-old was said to have been chained up by her brother yesterday night.

“The victim’s brother said he decided to chain the victim as she always gets drunk. He wanted to stop her from leaving home.

“However, the victim could not be found in the house after he woke up this morning,” he told the New Straits Times when contacted.

He said a team was dispatched to the scene at 9.34am when they were called in by the police.

“A passer-by who discovered the victim had called the police. We took about five minutes to cut the chain.

“We then handed over the victim to Seri Kembangan police team,” he said.

It was unclear how the victim had managed to escape from home. As of press time, Serdang police chief Commissioner Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said police have yet to receive report about the incident.
