Farewell, Ramadhan: Leukemia patient buried near Masjid Nabawi in Madinah

DUNGUN: Leukaemia patient, Muhammad Ramadhan Alias, 29, who died in Madinah, Saudi Arabia yesterday morning, was laid to rest in Madinah tonight.

His mother, Saibah Yaacob, 57, said her son's remains were buried at the cemetery near the Nabawi Mosque (Prophet's Mosque) after Asar prayer (10pm local time).

She said, after the documentation process was completed, Ramadhan's remains were bathed and then covered with white cloth (kafan) before he was brought to the Nabawi Mosque for the solat jenazah.

"I felt relieved after the prayers. I will leave for Mecca tomorrow to perform the umrah and hope everything will be fine.

"Thank you for all the prayers. May Ramadhan rest in peace," she said.

Ramadhan left Kuala Terengganu for Mecca on Sunday to perform his umrah, a longtime wish of his.

He had received pocket money to cover the cost of his travel and medical requirements from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak through the Umno Welfare Bureau and state government. However, his health condition took a turn for the worse there and he passed away following medical compilations.
