Pas, PPBM to form joint technical committee after 'secret' meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) today have agreed to form a joint technical committee ahead of the 14th general election.

In a joint statement published on Pas’ website, quoting the names of Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, the statement read that the decision was achieved during a meeting which was held in the city today.

It also stated that the meeting today managed to achieve “an understanding” between Pas and PPBM.

“The meeting today has refined the framework agreement draft on Pas-PPBM political understanding in facing GE14 and several other positive assessments were also achieved in an effort to form a cooperation between both parties.

“The framework agreement between Pas and PPBM will be refined by the top leadership of both parties in which the presidents of both parties will sign soon.

“The meeting today also has agreed to form a Pas-PPBM joint technical committee in order for the parties to take further action on the decision that has been achieved by both sides,” read the statement.

The meeting which was held in Bangsar at 11am today was conducted in secret.

Earlier this morning, the Pas headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut was abuzz with activity as members of the media gathered, in anticipation of the meeting .

To the disappointment of many, none of the Pas or PPBM leaders entered the headquarters. When contacted, leaders from both Pas and PPBM declined to share details of what transpired at the meeting.
