TOKYO: Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday as the yen strengthened, while Toshiba plunged eight percent after announcing it had requested a delay in filing its earnings report.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 1.13 percent, or 220.17 points, to 19,238.98, while the Topix index of all first-section issues lost 0.97 percent, or 15.08 points, to 1,539.12. --AFP
