Police: We're not interested in North Korean politics, we just want to find the killers [VIDEO]

KUALA LUMPUR: Police's investigation into the Kim Jong-nam assassination revolves around the circumstances surrounding his death and the motive, not politics.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police were not interested in the politics of another country, and would stick to facts and evidence.

"We are not interested in any political agenda; we want to reveal the truth of why the crime was committed.

"Our job is to gather facts and evidence to bring the perpetrators to justice. That is our duty," he told reporters at the Federal Police headquarters here today.

Police, he said, have sought assistance from Interpol to trace four North Korean suspects who have fled the country.

Noor Rashid stressed that next of kin (NOK) of the deceased must come forward to assist the investigation.

"We will not accept any requests from third parties to claim and identify the body.

"Nobody has come forward yet but we are working very hard to get them," he said.

On the personal documents belonging to the suspects, Noor Rashid said they were holding normal passports, not diplomatic ones.

On news reports claiming that the two female suspects were hired to "prank" the deceased, he said: "It is prejudicial for me to comment on that as it is still under investigation".
