Johor Sultan congratulates AG's Chambers over new Pulau Batu Puteh evidence

PAGOH: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has congratulated the Attorney-General's Chamber over the decision to apply for a revision on the ownership of Pulau Batu Puteh at the International Court of Justice.

In his address at the opening of the Galeri Darurat Bukit Kepong here, the ruler expressed his congratulations to Tan Sri Mohamad Apandi Ali and his officers for uncovering new evidence in the issue of the ownership of the island.

“I still remember my late father Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail's reminder that Pulau Batu Puteh belongs to Johor.

“Even though the island is small, every inch of it must be defended as it is part of Johor's sovereignty,” said Sultan Ibrahim in a speech.

The ruler also urged everyone to pray for the application’s success and for the island to be returned to Johor.

Also present were Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
