17 N. Sembilan eateries ordered closed due to poor hygiene

NILAI: Seventeen eateries here have been ordered to shut down for two weeks, due to poor hygiene.

State Health Department director Dr Zainudin Mohd Ali said the 17 outlets were among 42 premises inspected in an integrated food hygiene operation by the state’s Health Department, the Inspectorate and Legal Unit, and the Food Safety and Quality Division (BKKM) on Tuesday.

A total of 48 compound notices were also issued during the operation for various offences, amounting to RM18,950.

“As a department responsible for food safety and hygiene issues, the state Health Department is committed to conducting regular checks and operations on the premises of (food and beverage establishments) from time to time. This is to ensure that all eateries comply with the regulations stated under the Food Act 1983,” Zainudin said.

“Last year, a total of 6,358 premises in Negri Sembilan were inspected, out of which 124 were ordered to close, while 737 notices under Section 32B of the Food Act 1983 were issued to outlet operators for various offences,” he added.
